Episode #808

The secret to equality lies in unlimited energy. If energy were free, basic needs would be met, allowing humans the leisure to educate themselves.
In the world of the Star Trek Federation, peace prevails among its members. The reason? Dilithium Crystals. With Dilithium, food, housing, and goods are produced from pure energy. This enables humans to explore intellectual and artistic pursuits—matters of the soul. Physical needs become irrelevant, rendering envy, sloth, greed, and avarice unnecessary or irrelevant.
Is there still conflict in the Star Trek universe? Yes. Some races have ideologies so deeply ingrained that they feel compelled to conquer and possess anyone or anything different from themselves. Gluttony, lust, pride, and wrath are driven by both need and tribal tradition.
Without unlimited energy, life is a struggle for survival. Throughout history, this struggle has been alleviated by forming tribes. Working together provides necessities, but sometimes this cooperation excludes “others.”
The term “woke,” although an incorrect past tense of “awake,” refers to being aware of current affairs. Initially, it meant becoming more aware of social injustice, including any bias, discrimination, or double standards.
Some political sectors have corrupted the meaning of “woke” to justify the very biases, discrimination, or double standards it was meant to critique. A bigot feels justified in their bigotry because they believe the “others” think they are superior.
Tribalism alienates religions, races, economic strata, and intellectual training while promoting its own mythology to the exclusion of others. Politically, this manifests as voter suppression, economic segregation, and various forms of bigotry.
Letting go of prejudice is hard. It is taught from youth, persists due to lack of education, and is reinforced by the press. For example, peaceful pro-Palestinian college protesters highlighting the immorality of killing women and children in Gaza were labeled antisemitic by the pro-Israel conservative press. A rational mind would recognize that the protests were against Israel’s war tactics, not anti-Jewish. However, the xenophobia of pro-Israel elements led to the peaceful protesters becoming angry at their fellow Jewish students. This cyclical tribalism arises from uncertainty, leading to assumption and misconception.
The path to awareness is paved with critical thinking. Set aside tribal prejudice and examine both sides of any belief to become more aware and awakened. Assume that everyone is equal.
What would happen if everyone embraced the principle of equality to become more aware, awake, and truly “woke”?

Peaceful Palestinian protesters ? Are you paying attention to what’s going on? There’s plenty
to criticize Israel’s politics, but understand that Hamas is funded by Iran, a rogue nation with no regard for the rights of anyone else. Let me know if you want to discuss this situation.
Perhaps I should have been clearer that I am referring to college campus protesters. I happen to agree that genocide is never OK.
