Episode #851
May 24, 2025
We have come to expect everything all the time for ourselves.
Our expectations of others are so low that even with good intentions fall below our own self-image.
Politicians are all corrupt.
Teachers are brainwashing our children.
Scientists are driving up the costs of manufacturing and, therefore, products with their fabricated pollution warnings.
Climatologists invent the threat of global warming to justify higher taxes and fund expansive social programs.
Drivers own the road with their high beams and tailgating.
Medication is a plot to make us sicker to sell more drugs.
People on the other side of an argument are idiots.
Everyone is a thief.
Yet, the people who say these things are people with the same superior self-image and good intentions.
The other day, a lady left a twenty-dollar bill in the grocery store’s change machine. I carried it over to her and said, “I think you forgot this.” She was so amazed and grateful that she gave me a hug. It was a small act of kindness, yet it was beyond her expectations.
I was taught to expect the best from everyone.
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
— Leviticus (19:18)
This idea is central to every religion known to man.
Treating others with the same care, kindness, and consideration you would offer yourself emphasizes a deep sense of empathy and understanding. It encourages individuals to prioritize the well-being of others. It avoids actions that would harm them.
This philosophy is self-fulfilling. It reflects your soul as a mirror image of others.
Anything less than unconditional generosity is selfishness.

Agreed!
“Our expectations of others are so low that even with good intentions fall below our own self-image.”
Have we hit bottom yet?
Or is this a pendulum poised to swing back from any further harm to others?
There is no bottom. It is just each person taking this message and their fellow humans to heart.
